With the Bills facing a rash of injuries in their receiving corps, Moore's comment adds an interesting layer to their upcoming Divisional Round matchup.
"They don't really throw it to the receivers anyway," Moore stated, as reported by The Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson. This comment raises eyebrows, especially considering Moore's own brief stint with the Bills earlier this season, where he recorded 9 catches for 112 yards in 9 games before being released. He's now with the Broncos, adding a personal angle to the game.
But here's where it gets controversial... Is Moore's assessment accurate? The Bills, led by quarterback Josh Allen, have demonstrated a tendency to spread the ball around, often prioritizing other avenues of attack. They have a diverse offense, relying on a mix of running plays, tight end involvement, and Allen's own rushing ability.
For instance, Khalil Shakir leads the team with 72 receptions, nearly double that of any other Bills player. However, he's only one of two wide receivers in the top six for receptions. The other is Keon Coleman, with 38 catches, who has been a healthy scratch for multiple games. Tight ends Dalton Kincaid (39 receptions) and Dawson Knox (36) along with running backs James Cook (33) and Ty Johnson (24) also feature prominently in the passing game.
Given the Bills' recent injury woes, they'll likely need to continue diversifying their offensive approach against a tough Broncos defense, ranked third in points allowed. They're missing key players like Josh Palmer (injured reserve with 22 receptions), Gabe Davis, and Tyrell Shavers (both with torn ACLs). This leaves the Bills with Shakir, Coleman, Brandin Cooks, Curtis Samuel, and Mecole Hardman at wideout.
