Cinderella Castle's Magical Makeover: A New Look for the Iconic Landmark (2026)

Bold statement: Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom is undergoing a dramatic repaint back toward its classic look, and the transformation is catching eyes and stirring debate. But here’s where it gets controversial: some long-time fans worry the new color balance might shift the iconic mood of the castle, while others welcome a refreshed, museum-quality finish.

Crews have begun repainting the front of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, restoring it to its traditional color palette. The gold trim around the main entrance has been updated to a pale gray that matches the existing trim and columns on the stage. The coat of arms above the entrance remains gold, and some of the more intricate trims around the balcony and clock stay gold. The walls above the balcony continue to appear pale pink.

In terms of the towers, one of the castle’s tallest structures has been fully painted gray, with remaining metallic gold accents preserved on the blue roof edges and railings. A second tall tower is largely gray as well, with patches of pink on the front. An aerial photo by bioreconstruct highlights this partially completed tower in a recent post.

As previously noted, the back of the castle has also shifted toward gray, with much of it now a gray hue. Pink walls behind the blue roofs have been repainted, and although the roofing itself hasn’t been recolored yet, a lighter shade of blue is anticipated.

Overnight, a wall on the west side was repainted gray, and the second tower from the left now features gray trim instead of gold. The gold on the ramparts between two towers has also been removed. Another wall on the east side, along with one of the smaller turrets, has received gray paint as well.

Interestingly, some areas that are nearly invisible from ground level have seen paint work too. A turret behind a wall on the east side has been completed in gray, as seen in bioreconstruct’s latest aerial images.

For historical context, the image above compares Cinderella Castle in 2019 with its original color scheme to a 2021 repaint for the 50th anniversary.
