Cowboys Defense Reinforcements: Overshown, Williams & More vs Raiders | NFL Week 11 Preview (2025)

Dallas Cowboys' Defense Gets a Much-Needed Boost for Raiders Clash

It's been a tough season for the Dallas Cowboys' defense, but things are looking up! Help is on the way as the team prepares to face the Las Vegas Raiders. Several key players are returning from injuries and new acquisitions are ready to make their debut. Let's dive into the details.

Returning to the field are linebacker DeMarvion Overshown and rookie cornerback Shavon Revel Jr., both recovering from serious knee injuries. Adding to the defensive firepower are recent trade acquisitions: All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson.

Overshown and Revel have been diligently practicing for the past three weeks. Williams and Wilson, having joined the team just before the Cowboys' bye week, have had two weeks to integrate into the team. The players are also dealing with the tragic loss of teammate Marshawn Kneeland.

Overshown shared a heartfelt sentiment, saying, "We've got to keep Marshawn's legacy alive and that was smiling every day, enjoying the grit and hard work that comes with this." The team is focused on playing with passion and honoring Kneeland's memory.

The Cowboys' defense has struggled, ranking 31st in the league in both yards allowed (397.4) and points allowed (30.8) per game entering Week 11. Opponents have also been highly successful on third-down conversions, with a league-best 52.6% success rate against Dallas. Any improvement will be a welcome sight.

Overshown's return is particularly significant. He suffered a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL in his right knee back on December 9, 2024. At the time, his return in 2025 seemed uncertain. Now, he's back, albeit with a knee brace.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed his excitement, stating, "I just want him to play free. I really do. I don't want to put too much pressure on D-Mo." The coaching staff is mindful of Overshown's long absence but trusts in his abilities.

Before his injury, Overshown was the Cowboys' second-leading tackler and had 5.5 sacks. The team is managing his playing time, but Overshown is ready to contribute when needed.

Quinnen Williams, acquired from the New York Jets for a significant trade package, has been out of action since October 26. He's eager to make his debut with the Cowboys. Williams even put himself through a "mock game" to ensure he was physically ready.

Williams is expected to start alongside Kenny Clark. "I haven't played a game in a long, little minute so I'm super excited," Williams said. He's motivated to contribute and help the team succeed.

Logan Wilson's role is still being determined, but he's been working closely with linebackers coach Dave Borgonzi to learn the system.

Shavon Revel Jr., the Cowboys' third-round pick, is also returning from a torn ACL suffered last September. He's ready to contribute in a reserve role, confident in his abilities.

But here's where it gets controversial... Do you think these returning players and new additions will be enough to significantly improve the Cowboys' defense? Will the Cowboys' defense finally live up to expectations? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
