Kyle Tucker & Bo's Massive MLB Contracts: A Deep Dive (2026)

Baseball fans, get ready for some serious contract talk! Jon Heyman shared some intriguing news: the Toronto Blue Jays offered Kyle Tucker a whopping $350 million over 10 years. However, he ended up signing a 4-year, $240 million deal with the Dodgers. The big question now is, will Tucker, at age 33, be able to secure another contract for 6 years and $110 million? It seems like taking the money now might be the wiser move, especially considering potential tax implications. Only time will tell what the future holds, but at least he's set for life after baseball!

Now, let's switch gears to Bo Bichette's 3-year, $126 million contract. It's an interesting move, and I've always wondered if his impressive batting skills, which rely heavily on reflexes, will hold up as he ages. Players who excel at controlling the strike zone often have longer careers. I didn't anticipate anyone offering him over $40 million a season. This deal takes him to his age 31 season, and he'll likely be able to secure another solid contract after that.

But here's where it gets controversial... I'm not entirely convinced that third base is the best position for him, even though he'll likely do just fine there. Second base or left field might have been a better fit.

It's going to be strange seeing Vlad Guerrero Jr. without Bo. They've played together for seven seasons, accumulating a combined 46.9 bWAR and hitting 294 home runs. They've also made seven All-Star teams! Based on bWAR, Vlad ranks 7th and Bo ranks 13th among the best position players in team history.

Looking back, we can see other memorable pairings. Jesse Barfield and George Bell came up together in 1981 (though Bell spent some time in the minors in 1982). They played together until Barfield was traded in 1989. By the end of the 1988 season, Barfield had a 29.3 bWAR, while Bell had a 17.1 bWAR.

Carlos Delgado and Shawn Green also emerged around the same time, but Green was traded before he accumulated a significant WAR.

I'm sure there are other notable pairings in Blue Jays history, but they're escaping me at the moment. What are your thoughts on these contract decisions and player pairings? Do you agree or disagree with the assessments? Share your opinions in the comments below!
