Olivia Newman has announced the release of The Remembered Soldier (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t/olivia-newman/) following her recent collaboration with the writer-director of Remarkably Bright Creatures (https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/t/remarkably-bright-creatures/), bringing her back to the screen after more than a decade. The film will reteam with her production team, Bryan Unkeless and Peter Craig, who will continue their work on Night Owl Stories. The project, set in post-war Europe, follows a veteran haunted by amnesia, while a woman seeks to reclaim him as her husband. Themes of identity and memory drive the narrative, blending drama with philosophical depth. New Vessel Press has already recognized the book’s excellence, earning it numerous accolades, including the 2026 Republic of Consciousness Prize. The novel, praised for its emotional resonance, marks Newman’s fourth book adaptation and second directorial work. She also plans to feature Sally Field in a sequel, which she previously directed for Sony. With Soldier poised for release, Newman continues to establish herself as a leading figure in contemporary storytelling.
